Privacy notice

Who we are. TapFed is a product of Local Heights (the "responsible party" under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013, POPIA). Contact our Information Officer at hello@localheights.co.za.

What we collect. Your email address, your pet's name and type, and the log of taps (action, time, and the sitter's first name if they enter one). Photos only if a sitter chooses to add one. We store a salted hash of IP addresses for up to an hour to stop abuse; we don't store raw IP addresses.

Why. Only to run the service you asked for: showing your log and sending you alerts. Marketing emails only if you ticked the opt-in box, and you can opt out any time.

How long. Photos are deleted automatically after 30 days. Logs and account details are kept while your sticker is active and deleted within 30 days of you asking us to close your account.

Cross-border storage. TapFed runs on Cloudflare's global network and email/push providers, so your information may be processed and stored on servers outside South Africa. We only use providers bound by data-protection terms giving a level of protection substantially similar to POPIA (section 72), and by accepting this notice you consent to this transfer.

Sharing. We never sell your data. Service providers (hosting, email, push) process it only on our instructions.

Your rights. You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to processing, and complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).

Security. Sticker links are random and unguessable; your log is reached only through your private link. Keep it to yourself.
